Objective: Install the Live Maps Unity Portal V7 or V8. 

Note: This article was written with the release of V7.5.  This version no longer requires a separate license key as it will read the Live Maps Unity License key installed during the installation of Live Maps Unity. Must be on V7.5 or above.

IIS requirements( including those from standard IIS installation Noted from Server 2012 R2)

A pre-existing Web Site setup in IIS. If Website is empty, the Live Maps Unity Web console can be installed as a root application. If the website already contains existing information, like the OM web console, then it can be installed as a Child Application. Example: Root = https://servername, Child = https://servername/dashboards

App Pool Credentials must have a minimum of Read ("db_datareader") access to the OperationsManager and Data Warehouse databases. 

UPDATE- App Pool Credentials will also need to be added to a SCOM User role. At a minimum a Read-only user role that is group scoped only to the "Live Maps Portal Group" This will be required for generating Static URLs

Other Notes: While Live Maps Unity Portal can be installed on a standalone server, it is recommended to install it on a SCOM management server hosting a Operations Manager Web Console. This is only due to issues that may occur with Kerberos and double hops. 

Compatible browsers: Internet Explorer V11 or greater, Chrome, Firefox. Should work with other browsers that support HTML5.


Download the latest version from the Savision Web Site located in www.savision.com/support/downloads.

1. Double click on the self-exe installer. 

2. Click Next on the Welcome Screen.

3. Click on "I accept......", and then click Next

4. Choose the Authentication Method.

5. Enter in the Default Management Server. If you want to Enable Express Sign in, please check the box. This will automatically choose the default management server and doesn't give the user a chance to select a different one. Click Next. Selecting Express Sign in also makes Single Sign On easier. 

6. You can choose to participate on the Customer Experience Improvement screen, then click Next

7.  Select if you want to install the web console in an empty website or as a child application. Then click Find Sites.

8. Choose the install location, then click Next.

9. Choose the site you wish to install the Live Maps Unity Web Console into. Select CREATE NEW POOL... and add the credentials if you have not previously created an app pool for the console. 

10. Click Install on the Performing Configuration screen. 

11. Click Finish. You can also select to create a desktop shortcut to the Live Maps Unity Web Console. This will create a shortcut using Localhost. 

12. After the installation of the Live Maps Portal, please go into the advanced settings of the app pool and set the Load User Profile to TRUE.

Import Live Maps Unity Portal Management Pack. 

These next steps may not be necessary if you have installed the Live Maps Authoring Console and Run it at least once before installing the Portal. The Live Maps Authoring Console will add this MP during its initial launch. 

13. From a SCOM Console, navigate to Administration > Management  Packs

14. Right click on Management Packs and select Import Management Packs

15. Click on Add and select Add from disk....

16. Click Yes or No to search for any dependencies....

17. Browse to %ProgramFiles%\Savision\Live Maps Unity Portal. Select the Savision.Dashboards.Library mp, and click on Open

18. Click Install. 

19. After it is finished importing, click on Close.
